Do you realize what day it is ? It’s April 15th, which also marks the grueling end of what seemed like a never ending tax season. From my professional perspective, tax season is clearly HELL! Nothing ruffles my feathers more than procrastinators! And at this time of year, you can weed out all the procrastinators from the rest of the pack. Because of my line of work, somehow everyone’s procrastination becomes my immediate emergency when April 12ish rolls around! Not cool, folks! Anyways, if I can make it through today with my sanity intact, I’ll be a very happy girl! But on a positive note: tax season usually means an “extra” paycheck for most of us twentysomething year olds! This year was lackluster as far as our returns were concerned, so there goes my hopes of booking a nice getaway. But it’s still fun to consider all the possibilities, especially when extra cash is involved. My hubby is the practical half of the relationship and will probably insist that we save the extra cash for a rainy day, but I would prefer we spend it on his/her Schwinn bikes!
And ideally, they wouldn’t stay in the storage room collecting dust either!
So tell me….what are you splurging on this year with your “extra check”? Or for those of us that are either getting no return, or using it on something boring responsible, what would you prefer splurging on instead?

The bike sounds like a fun idea! Haha, for me – it depends how much extra cash I have. I usually save it or split it, save half and spend the rest lol.
We live on Lake Erie so we are considering going in on a used boat with another family–eek!! Huge responsibility, but huge fun too!
Well, if I was getting a cheque (which I won’t be), then I would spend it on a kindly but no nonsense robot nanny so I could whisk my husband away for a well earned break. I’ll carry on dreaming *sigh*
Before you know it the day will be over and all the procrastinators will be out of luck…or saved by YOU. I presume the latter!
We are all done and luckily we had some come back to us and although I am far from the practical type….I used it to apply toward bills.
If I had my druthers, though? I’d hop on a plane to Europe and visit a friend for a long weekend.
A girl can dream, can’t she?

Our tax returns our due at the end of the month, currently with our accountant. I highly doubt we will be getting any return at all. *sigh*
I filed my taxes in february, and my non substantial check is sitting in my ING account, accruing less than 2% interest, lol. But I’m thinking i’ll probaly use half of it toward my plane ticket toward spane. i’ve already bought my tickets from barcelona to madrid and seville to marrekech, but still haven’t bought the actual tickets to spain. I say, you should use half of your return toward the bikes, and save the other half :)
I splurged on a pair of LOFT Wedge Sandals that I was coveting. Not the biggest splurge ever, but it made me happy. Also, I plan on letting myself go wild once Cynthia Vincent for Target hits stores. There are a few fabulous pairs of shoes I’ve set my sights on!! :)
I recently lost a very dear Tiffany ring so i’d like to replace it… on the other hand need to save every single penny… so, we’ll see what happens!
Oh, I would definitely buy this bike! It looks amazing!
treadmill. that is what I bought with part of our return! LOL! I LOVE the Schwinn bike and it takes me back to the good old days!
I have heard about the horrors from tax season because my cousin works in that field. I hope you get your wish with what you want to splurge on. I would personally save up on all that splurge money until I could use all of it buy a really nice expensive chanel bag.
student=no job=no income=no taxes=no return, but it I was getting one, I would splurge on a DSLR camera :)
We saved our money…spent some of it and I’m about to replenish most of the money we used. I’m a chronic saver, but I’m itching to go shopping. I’m still holding out though!
Doing my own tax this year gave me a big headache. : ) No more splurges for a while. : )
Oooh, I love the idea of the bikes! That would be so much fun!
I don’t pay taxes, so no extra money for me.
