Project Me: Cruising Together

by Maddy on June 1, 2011

in Project Me

Remember this post from a year ago?  Well, I finally saved up enough cash and purchased two gorgeous Specialized bikes - one for me and one for the hubs –  as our anniversary present. Even though Kleber was very excited to receive his surprise gift, I think I had more than enough excitement for the both of us! You see, I don’t remember ever owning a bike. But now that I do, I made sure it had all the bells and whistles that I wanted as a kid  - basket included! I’m still a nervous wreck riding on busy street and I wobble a lot  trying to keep my balance, but I’m having so much fun! I love feeling the wind on my face and the sense of freedom I get when riding. I plan on enjoying many peaceful rides this summer and the fact that it doesn’t feel like exercise makes it so much better!

Ah! NICE!!! You look SWEET on those wheels. I love BIKING and I love how your camera has such a nice spot there!
I have been talking about getting my bike out for weeks. I just haven’t had time. THIS – This shall inspire me! :-)

What kind of pants is Kleiber wearing? I don’t think I have ever seen anything like them. Of course he looks fantastic in them : ) Whatever they are!

I love your bike Maddy! So sweet. LOVE the basket : ) Busy streets make me nervous too. When I am driving down tiny one way streets in Philly and bikers come zipping along I want to scream. I am afraid I will kill one. Totally accidentally of course.

Stay safe and have fun. You are beautiful and you look sensational. I don’t know why you worry so much. You are a 10.

Hahaha!! Funny you should mention them! They are “sweat shorts” – something
Kleber created with a pair of scissors and a pair of old tattered sweat
pants. He swears that sweat shorts will become a trend someday…I won’t
hold my breath though :)

Where is your helmet?!?
Okay, so admittedly, I am guilty of not using one either. We really, really should, you know.
Cool bikes!

So cute, Maddy! :) I love your new bike and basket!

I’ve seen soo many bloggers jump on the biking bandwagon this summer! I really, really wish I knew how to ride a bike. Can you come teach me, pretty please? :) I love the idea of it – it’s eco-friendly, great exercise, and looks like so much fun – but the actual riding is a bit terrifying for me. Hope you have fun with your new awesome wheels!

Congrats! I would so love a vintage-inspired bicycle … but you know, after running over my own leg the last time I was on a bike, I’m a little leery! :)

Sarah June 1, 2011 at 8:56 am

I seriously want a bike right now – there is something so quaint and charming about taking a ride on a lazy summer day. What a fantastic idea for an anniversary present, Maddy! :)

So fun that you were able to buy those bikes! Way to go on saving :) I’m so terrified of bikes it’s not even funny. I blame it on the accidents/spills I took as a kid….!

Biking is so good for you! i Love it! although, sometimes I wish I had a license so I could actually take the car instead.

Nadette June 1, 2011 at 2:34 pm

I think that is the cutest anniversary present ever! It’s great you’re enjoying the bikes. I feel like I need to ride a bike again, because I keep hearing people rave about how much fun they are, and I feel like I’m missing out. But I’m terrified of attempting to ride anything other than a car in Baltimore–the way folks drive out here is pretty horrifying, lol.

Hey, I just bought a bike recently too! How funny. I couldn’t make up my mind between a mountain bike or a road bike. I went with a mountain one because I’d rather ride trails.

I would love to go biking with Aaron but he has joint problems and can only last about five minutes. Sad. But I love riding and totally know what you mean about the wind in your face. It’s a great feeling. :)

Camila F. June 1, 2011 at 4:46 pm

Oh, the bikes are so beautiful Maddy! I’d love to bike everywhere but with the crazy traffic we have here in Rio de Janeiro, it’s impossible! But I’m very excited for you guys!

You both look great!!! I love the picture and bicycles. For your information you did have one bike when you were little. You learned how to ride in your own bicycle. You even had a computer when most children not even knew what a computer was!! Enjoy it!!

Where’s your HELMET…..you need one, Missy……..bike riding ’round these parts can be quite dangerous sometimes especially on the road!

Ride On…….

Fun and practical b’day gift! I’m sure that basket comes in handy for seating your camera in there! Great way to get the outdoor’s fresh air.

I’ve been meaning to use my mountain bike, but for a whole 3 years I’ve not managed to get round to fixing my flat tyres.

Anaiz June 4, 2011 at 10:05 pm
